Jan Tu has been a valued collaborator with the enVISION initiative since its inception. A professionally trained audio describer with more than two decades of experience, Jan has provided description for live theater, films, conferences, visual art exhibitions, museum installations, community events, and cultural experiences across a wide range of settings.
Drawing on her background as a classical ballet student and teacher, as well as her ongoing work as a competitive ballroom dancer, Jan brings a rare combination of movement expertise and accessibility practice to her work. Her deep understanding of dance makes her a sought-after describer for movement-based performance, helping ensure that Blind and Low Vision audiences can engage with choreography as a rich artistic experience.
Jan served as the audio describer for the enVISION: Sensory Beyond Sight performance film and for Beyond Sight: The Making of enVISION, the documentary chronicling the creation of the project.
