Megan is Lithuanian and Swiss. She started dancing at the age of 4 in a dance studio that lived above a fire station in Davidson, North Carolina. In her high school years she was a ballet student in the pre-professional division at North Carolina Dance Theatre, now Charlotte Ballet, where she trained under renowned Balanchine dancers Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride. Megan switched gears while attending Hollins University and began studying modern dance with Donna Faye Burchfield, Jeffery Bullock and dozens of esteemed guest artists including Douglas Becker, Michelle Boulé, Miguel Gutierrez, Mark Haim, Ishmael Houston-Jones, John Jasperse, Sara Procopio and Jesse Zaritt. Graduating in 2010 with a double major in Communication Studies and Dance, Megan went on to work as the Assistant to the Director at Roanoke Ballet Theatre. Since then she has also held jobs at large performing arts venues, including Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, NC and Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC. Megan began dancing with ShaLeigh five years ago in a piece being performed at the American Dance Festival. She became an official company member in 2016 and has enjoyed watching the company grow and thrive ever since.
